Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand’s second largest city, is booming. With a high-speed train to Bangkok and two major new malls coming, my life is about to get a whole lot easier. Korat isn’t the only city to reap the benefits of the High-Speed Rail (HSR) project. Supposedly, the high-speed train network will eventually extend to Saraburi, Korat, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Vientiane (Laos), Pattaya, Rayong, Phisanulok, Hua Hin and even China. The project has had its fair share of criticism, but seems to be approved. With three routes on the agenda, the HSR network should be operational bij 2021.
