Paay thalaad

Set on stepping out of my farang bubble, I headed to the local market today (‘paay thalaad’). Some may argue that cooking is ridiculous, when food stalls and open air restaurants are almost literally everywhere and prices are low. While this is true and the market sells many take-away dishes, I really want to cook myself at least some of the time and get fresh produce.

The market sells many fresh vegetables, as well as pre-mixed salads. Meat is also abundantly available, but isn’t refrigerated. In these temperatures chances are slim that this approach is compatible with farang intestine. At least for the time being, the supermarket will be supplying our meat. Another thing that I noticed is that no beef is available, even though I see plenty of cows. Will look into the reason for that.
