Latin-American news outlet: TeleSUR

Since starting this blog, I have repeatedly highlighted the importance of diversifying your news sourcing. RT, for example might have an interesting and refreshing take on what is happening in the US, while CNN will likely have another perspective on what is happening in Russia. After a bit of research, I was able to add the African view on the news by adding Africa News to my list of news feeds. Latin-America remained one of the blind spots in my sources but over the weekend I came across TeleSUR, a news outlet sponsored by the governments of Venezuela, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Uruguay and Bolivia (not Brazil!). Sure, alternative sources need to be added to balance it out. The image underneath clearly highlights a whole new perspective on the impeachment/coup in Brazil. The upper headline is by CNN, the lower ones by TeleSUR. Interesting difference, isn’t it? Here is an overview of TeleSUR’s reporting on Rousseff‘s impeachment. (side note: TeleSUR’s Youtube channel seems to feature quite a few interesting and contrarian full-length documentaries)
